About Us

Not too long ago, Rakkh was little more than a single cabin surrounded by a Deodar jungle and a wizened caretaker who had been the guardian of the land for over 20 years.

However for the owner, himself a native of the region, there was always a vision – a dream of offering a genuine taste of Himachal hospitality to guests. So began the work of creating a refuge for those who yearned for a more authentic experience of life in the mountains by offering a unique boutique hotel in the heart of a Himachal unsullied by the negative effects of mass tourism. Today, Rakkh is one of the few resorts in Mcleodganj that offer a peaceful retreat where you can relax, recharge and reconnect with what truly matters in life.

About Rakkh Resort
our-ethos

Our Ethos

In today’s hectic world it’s very easy to lose perspective about what is really important in life, and what truly makes us happy: Family. Friendship. Nature. Togetherness.

What makes Rakkh different from other 5 star hotels in Mcleodganj and hotels in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh is our efforts to ensure guests spend quality time during their stay. We often lose sight of how vital it is to take time out of our busy lives, to switch off our phones, shut down our laptops, turn off the TV and reconnect with each other and with the natural world. You’ll find no TVs at Rakkh, no mini-bars, no room service. We actively encourage guests to spend meaningful time together as family and friends: to talk, share laugh and play together. Our communal dining concept encourages conversation and kinship with other guests. Share your experiences of the day, embrace sociability and be open to others.

We ask you keep your phones on silent whilst at Rakkh – or even better, switched off! Be mindful of others and take private calls in your room. Engage with your immediate surroundings. Take a breath and a moment to clear your mind of the clutter of everyday life and stay at Rakkh for a stay with a difference.

“Be happy in the moment, that’s enough. Each moment is all we need, not more.” Mother Teresa

Location

Rakkh is located in the heart of the Kangra Valley, shadowed by the Dhauladhar Range, and is a world away from many of the overly-commercialized tourist hubs of the state of Himachal. Rakkh’s rural hill location is a welcome contrast to the bustling streets and hurly burly of the major towns. Instead it is surrounded by peaceful villages with their sparkling paddy fields and manicured tea gardens, glorious spring blossoms and smiling residents. Rakkh is conveniently located for visits to nearby Bajinath Temple and Andretta Pottery, and the heartlands of Tibetan Culture in exile, Dharamsala and McLeod Ganj, are easily accessible on a day’s visit. Rakkh is most easily accessible by air with Kangra-Gaggal Airport less than an hour’s drive away. There are generally twice daily flights from Delhi and onward connecting flights nationwide. The nearest railheads at Pathankot and Una are a 3 hour drive, and taking an overnight trains allows guests to maximize their time at resort.
