Where is Rakkh?
Rakkh is located in the Kangra District of Himachal Pradesh. We are located just outside the small villages of Rakh and Ghamrota. Palampur is a 35 minute drive, whilst Dharamsala is an hour by road. Rakkh is located in a totally rural area, so there are no shops or local eateries which is why we offer Rakkh on a Full Board Basis.
How do I reach Rakkh?
Air: The fastest and most convenient route is by air. There are daily flights from Delhi to Kangra-Gagal Airport which are direct, non stop, and we are a further 1 hour from the airport

What should I bring?
Apart from a sense of adventure and a willingness to get immersed in the Rakkh ethos, we suggest you bring the following gear if you are intending to take part in the activities we offer at Rakkh:
- Comfortable walking shoes – they can be sports shoes or sandals, no need for them to be heavy duty hiking boots
- Personal drinking water bottle – please leave plastic behind – as much as possible Rakkh is a plastic free zone
- Warm clothing for nights – even in the summer months the evening temperatures drop significantly, so a fleece is a good idea, and for winter hat, scarf, etc is recommended for the outdoors
- Lightweight, breathable clothes for outdoor activities, and waterproofs for the monsoon months
- Daypack to carry your gear on hikes etc
Is Rakkh Suitable for my kids?
For families who want to spend quality time together and who are looking for a place to stay where the kids can really get active Rakkh is a great choice. We offer structured and fully supervised activities for children aged 6 and above with or without parents (but preferably with!), including hiking, biking, climbing and rappelling, slacklining. Scavenger hunts for the younger kids, and camp skills wokshops for kids who want to learn a little bit more about camp craft, as well and lots of indoor board games and books for kids of all ages.
**Please note that we do not have any in-room TVs at Rakkh, and we encourage guests to minimize their use of electronic gadgetry whilst in public areas.
Can you cater for my special dietary needs?
At the time of booking please advise us of any special dietary restrictions or allergies you have so that we can ensure the kitchen is informed well in advance. Vegetarian and Vegan diets, gluten free and nut allergies can be catered for. Unfortunately we are not able to cater specifically to halal or kosher diets.
Is Rakkh Wheelchair friendly?
Unfortunately due to its position on a very steep hill, Rakkh is not suitable for guests in wheelchairs, and those with walking or breathing difficulties should advise us in advance so we can asses which rooms would be more suitable if at all.
Should I Tip at the end of my stay?
Service charge is not included in the room rate, and we believe that it is at your own discretion whether you want to leave a tip at the end of your stay. If you feel the service has met or gone beyond your expectation we encourage all our guests to leave some form of gratuity. We ensure tips are distributed equally between all the Rakkh team who work very hard to ensure you have the most enjoyable stay. Please leave your tip in the tip box in reception or in the restaurant, and not to individual members of the Rakkh Team.
Do you have Wi-Fi?
Free wi-fi is available in reception and restaurant area, however due to our location wi-fi is often temperamental! However we do hope that you spend as little time on your electronic gadgets as possible whilst staying with us!
