A beautiful monastery painted with shades of yellow has well-maintained gardens. It is also home of young monks and open to all visitors. You will have to climb almost 100 steps to reach the monastery. The place is on a midway of Dharamsala and Sidbari road.
Namgyal is a personal monastery of 14th Dalai Lama and is also called as Namgyal Tantric College. The main role of this monastery is to assist in rituals that involve the Dalai Lama of Tibet. Some of the tantric practices in the monastery involve Yamantaka, Vajrakilaya, Chakrasamvara and Kalachakra.
Bhagsunag is lord Shiva’s temple, approximately 2kms from McLeodganj Bazaar. Built in 1800 century, the temple is mostly worshiped by 14 Gurkha platoon villages in Dharamshala. The famous Bhagsunag waterfall is next to the temple. The waterfall turns into 30 feet cascade during monsoon.
Chamunda Devi Temple
The famous Chamunda Devi temple is also in Kangra district, and almost 10km west of Palampur. The temple is on the Banner river and depicts the scenes from Ramayan, Devi Mahatmya and Mahabharata. The image of Chamunda Devi is flanked by images on Bhairo and Hanuman on both her sides.
Guna Devi Temple
Guna Devi temple is dedicated to Goddess Kali and situated on the top of a crest overlooking the Dhauladhar range. It is a pilgrim center of Gaddi shepherds. The temple is surrounded by oak and deodar forests. It is a calm and peaceful place that is 8 km from McLeodGanj bus stand and 13 km from Dharamsala bus stand.
